John Garrett, il nuovo WR coach

Greg Schiano ha scelto il nuovo allenatore per il reparto dei wide receivers: si tratta di John Garrett, allenatore negli ultimi 6 anni (dal 2007 al 2012) dei TE dei Dallas Cowboys e fratello di Jason Garrett, attuale HC dei 'boys.

John Garrett è chiamato a sostituire P.J. Fleck, che dopo l'ottimo lavoro svolto lo scorso anno con Jackson, Williams e Underwood, nel 2013 ricoprirà il ruolo di HC presso l'università di Western Michigan.

Garrett, che da giocatore ebbe  in NFL una breve carriera come WR con i Bengals, ha poi ricoperto vari ruoli come coach, e può vantare trascorsi come WR coach (Cincinnati), QB coach (Arizona) e soprattutto TE coach, anche con i Bengals oltre che per 6 stagioni a Dallas.

C'è un aneddoto curioso, legato al nuovo WR coach dei Bucs: Garrrett  aveva già lavorato a Tampa Bay nel 1994 come "pro personnel assistant". Quando Garrett lasciò quel posto, a sostituirlo venne chiamato un certo... Mark Dominik, sì, proprio l'attuale GM della squadra!

Queste, dal Ft. Worth Star-Telegram, le prime parole di Garrett nei panni di WR coach dei Bucs:
"We had a had a great time interviewing down there, getting to know coach [Greg] Schiano more and more and the offensive coaches and the rest of the staff of the Buccaneers. It really went well, and I'm thrilled for the opportunity and just really excited to get started working for the Tampa Bay Buccaneeers."

E per chiudere, ecco l'elogio - anche un po' eccessivo - del suo HC, da parte di Garrett:
"Greg Schiano is a fantastic person, and a great football coach, and he loves football and does everything the right way," Garrett said. "I'm really excited to learn more from him and be part of his program."
