Tutti coloro che seguono abitualmente i Bucs credo ricorderanno i commenti sempre entusiasti e l'incondizionato supporto che i giocatori di Tampa Bay hanno sempre riservato al loro ex allenatore, Morris, anche quando cercare di difendere le malefatte di Raheem era impresa più ardua che tentare di arrampicarsi su una parete di vetro...
Ebbene, a quanto pare i giocatori si sono dimenticati in fretta del loro "amicone", pronti a salire sul carro del nuovo HC, Greg Schiano. Per carità, tutto regolare e questo atteggiamento non sorprende più di tanto, ad ogni modo vediamo cosa hanno detto coloro che domenicalmente dovranno scendere in campo, a proposito del loro nuovo HC.

Da segnalare, il giorno della presentazione di Schiano a One Buc Place, la presenza anche di un grandissimo Bucaniere del recente passato, Mike Alstott, oltre a quella di attuali componenti del roster tra cui il QB Josh Freeman e il RB LeGarrette Blount.
Entusiasta Josh Freeman, che per essere presente a One Buc Place il giorno della presentazione di coach Schiano è saltato sul primo aereo disponibile per Tampa... queste le sue parole, dal Tampa Tribune: "To be honest, I think he's a great fit," Freeman said after the Bucs made Greg Schiano the ninth head coach in franchise history. "I'm rushing to the airport right now to catch a flight to Tampa, and I'm excited about the news. From everything I hear about him, he's the right guy. I can't wait to meet him."
Un giocatore dei Bucs che conosce molto bene Greg Schiano è Jeremy Zuttah, l'offensive lineman (che tra poco diventerà free agent) che al college ha giocato proprio a Rutgers, alle dipendenze di coach Schiano. Sempre dal Tampa Tribune, queste le parole di Zuttah: "He's a great coach," said Zuttah, who started 40 games for the Scarlet Knights before the Bucs selected him in the third round of the 2008 draft. "Coach Schiano believes in doing everything the right way, and the man's very energetic. More than that, he knows how to instill energy to his players. This is his first time as a head coach at the NFL level, and I'm confident he'll get the job done. We certainly ran the ball a lot in college," Zuttah said. "I'm not absolutely certain that will carry over at the NFL level, we'll have to see, but it's what we did at Rutgers. I can remember when he recruited me. Coach Schiano didn't make false promises. He had a vision for the program and he made you believe he would get the job done."
Oltre a Freeman e Blount, il giorno della presentazione di Schiano erano presenti a One Buc Place anche altri giocatori dei Bucs: Arrelious Benn, George Johnson (come Zuttah, anch'egli proveniente da Rutgers), Cody Grimm, Luke Stocker e Jeff Faine. Non c'era invece Kellen Winslow, che non ha però fatto mancare i suoi commenti sul nuovo HC, riportati da Pro Football Talk, e da cui emerge che Winslow avrebbe probabilmente preferito Rob Chudzinski come nuovo capo allenatore dei Bucs: "I was really hoping for Coach Chudzinski who I was with at Miami and Cleveland,” Winslow said. “But, you know, we got another guy in Greg Schiano who I know and heard he’s one of the best coaches people have been around. And he’s got a lot of enthusiasm and [is] real energetic so I’m excited, man.” So what does Winslow think about Schiano? “I’m happy with Greg Schiano,” Winslow said. “You know, I was just kinda hoping that it would be Chud. But Greg Schiano is fine with me, man."
Per chiudere, una "battuta" (involontaria, as usual...) dell'indimenticato Raheem Morris, direttamente dal Senior Bowl: a precisa domanda sul suo ex OC Greg Olson, Morris ne ha tessuto le lodi, segnalandone soprattutto la capacità di sviluppare i giovani giocatori: "He's great at developing young players", le parole del nostro ex Head Coach. Eh già, come no, infatti basta vedere come Olson ha sviluppato - ma all'indietro! - nella stagione appena trascorsa i giovani di belle speranze quali Mike Wiliams, LeGarrette Blount e soprattutto Josh Freeman, che erano stati affidati alle sue cure...
