Davin Joseph lascia il campo dopo l'infortunio

La notizia era nell'aria già nell'immediato dopopartita, e adesso è arrivata l'ufficialità: Davin Joseph è stato inserito nella "injured reserve", dunque per lui la stagione 2012 è già terminata. E domani il forte giocatore della linea offensiva dei Bucs verrà operato, per la ricostruzione del "patellar tendon" del ginocchio sinistro. 

E' stata così confermata la peggiore delle ipotesi, e adesso non rimane altro da fare che augurarsi che l'intervento chirurgico riesca nel migliore dei modi, e che il giocatore possa recuperare al 100% dal grave infortunio.

Queste le parole di Coach Schiano, circa il KO di Davin Joseph:
"It's [a] big [loss], but that's part of what we do, right?" said Schiano. "You mourn, and you move on. That’s what you do. That's what we have to do, and Davin wants us to do that. He's going to be in surgery and then on his road to recovery, and we've got to fix our sights on how we're going to move forward."

Si tratta di una perdita molto grave per i Bucs: Joseph - due partecipazioni al Pro Bowl - era uno dei capitani della squadra, nonché uno dei leader dello spogliatoio e non sarà facile sostituirlo, anche se ci sono diverse opzioni a disposizione di Schiano. Così l'HC, su chi prenderà il posto di Joseph: 
"We're going to try to work a couple things," said Schiano. "Obviously, Larsen has worked there, and we have other options that we can look at, which we will. We're trying to get the best five on the field. I think we have the answer internally, and that's why we've been trying to build depth at all positions. But we always look outside; that's a constant. If there's somebody we think fits our mold, then we'll try to do what we can to get him." 

L'ipotesi Ted Larsen sembra dunque la più probabile, ma ci sono anche altre alternative e ad esempio il posto di Guardia potrebbe essere occupato da Jeremy Zuttah, con Ted Larsen nel ruolo di Centro. Invece, per quel che riguarda gli altri due infortuni minori di McCoy e Clayborn, verificatisi sempre nel match con i Patriots, Schiano sembra ottimista e la speranza è di vederli entrambi in campo nell'opener vs Carolina: 
"I think they're going to be sore. In fact, I know they're sore today,'' Schiano added. "But give them a little time they'll be OK.''
