E la partita con Tennessee offre sicuramente parecchi motivi di interesse. In primo luogo, sarà l'occasione per vedere se la buona prestazione di Miami avrà un seguito, e se anzi sarà possibile assistere ad una maggiore fluidità nei giochi di attacco e se la difesa sarà più aggressiva ed intensa rispetto a venerdì scorso.
E poi, questo match rappresenterà non solo il debutto casalingo per coach Schiano, ma anche la prima volta in assoluto, in un match NFL, per il rookie Mark Barron, la safety scelta con la settima chiamata assoluta nell'ultimo draft.
Per un lieve infortunio al piede Barron ha saltato la prima partita di preseason a Miami, ma contro Tennessee l'ex stella di Alabama ci sarà. Ecco le sue parole, dal Tampa Bay Times:
"I'm very excited," Barron said Wednesday. "I was looking forward to last week but unfortunately I wasn't able to play. Those same feelings are carrying into this game. I'm ready to get out there and get a feel for the game."
Sarà interessante vedere all'opera la nuova coppia di safety dei Bucs 2012, il rookie Barron e il veteranissimo Barber, inedito duo che unisce gioventù ad esperienza e che potrebbe rivelarsi - si spera - uno dei punti di forza della nuova difesa di Tampa Bay.
Anche per coach Greg Schiano non è semplice prevedere che cosa potrà combinare Mark Barron nel suo match d'esordio:
"It's hard to say what kind of camp he's having because he hasn't participated enough to really draw a conclusion," Schiano said. "Mentally, I think he's grasping the defense, but how do you know until you're under pressure and have to perform. It's one thing to master the defense in the air conditioning, and it's another to do it when you've got your pads on and you've got to hit somebody. I think we'll see that more as he plays more. I'm confident he will, but like anything else, until you do it, it's talk."
