I Bucs hanno ridotto a 75 il numero di giocatori presenti a roster, rispettando  le direttive dell'NFL che prevedevano che tale limite venisse raggiunto entro le 22:00 ora italiana di ieri.

Tra gli ultimi ad essere "tagliati" ci sono l'OT Matt Patchman, il CB Deveron Carr e l'OT J.B. Shugarts. E' stato inoltre inserito in IR, e dunque per lui la stagione 2014 è terminata prima ancora di incominciare, il CB Danny Gorrer, a causa di un infortunio non meglio precisato che lo aveva costretto a saltare il match di Buffalo.

Nelle ultime due stagioni Danny Gorrer ha giocato complessivamente 13 partite con la maglia dei Bucs, mettendo a referto 21 tackles, 1 intercetto e 2 passaggi difesi.

Tra i giocatori che invece i Bucs hanno aggiunto al roster per mantenere la fatidica quota di 75, che a breve verrà ulteriormente ridotta a quella definitiva di 53, ci sono invece il DB Marc Anthony e Jeremiah Warren, offensive lineman con trascorsi collegiali a USF.

Ma al di là dei movimenti che si registrano a livello di roster, è ancora la trade che ha portato in Florida la guardia Logan Mankins e spedito a Boston il TE Tim Wright a tenere banco. Ecco come l'HC dei Bucs, Lovie Smith, commenta dalle colonne del Tampa Bay Times l'arrivo di Mankins:
"He has a history of a certain type of play in the league," coach Lovie Smith said. "Most people say Logan Mankins — tough football player, real man, everybody loves him, great guy in your locker room.Exactly what we need on our football team and of course in the offensive line room." 

Per Lovie, i Bucs non potevano farsi scappare l'occasione di acquisire un giocatore importante come Logan Mankins:
"This is just a guy that we felt you couldn't pass on," Smith said. "Not only do we talk about the Pro Bowls he's gone to, but (a) team captain. Once you get a chance to know Logan, you'll see what we're talking about."

Anche il GM Licht non nasconde la soddisfazione per avere portato a Tampa un giocatore in grado di colmare la principale lacuna emersa in casa Bucs dopo le prime partite di preseason:
"We're very excited to acquire a player like Logan," said general manager Jason Licht, who worked in the Patriots front office from 2009-11. "We feel very fortunate. Logan is a very good player. (I'm a) first-hand witness to what he means in the locker room as well. His play on the field speaks for itself."

Infine, ecco le parole di commiato e di stima anche da parte dell'ex HC di Mankins, Bill Belichick:
"Logan Mankins is everything we would ever want in a football player. It is hard to imagine a better player at his position, a tougher competitor or a person to represent our program," coach Bill Belichick said in a statement. "He is one of the all-time great Patriots and the best guard I ever coached. Logan brought a quiet but unmistakable presence and leadership that will be impossible to duplicate."
